4 Benefits to Booking a Session Early

If booking a session has been on your mind lately but you keep putting it off, book it right now! People often ask if they should wait until closer to the time, and my answer is definitely not

There are several benefits to booking your session early for both you and your photographer, and I thought I’d share them with you!

  1. Choosing your date: If you wait until closer to the day, I might only be available on that one Tuesday when you have soccer practice. Booking early means I’ll have more availability, and you won’t have to shuffle around your schedule to make it work.

  2. Getting in with your favorite photographer: This is a big one! If you have a specific time frame that you need photos done in, make sure you’re booking early! Often people need to have photos taken and printed in time for someone’s birthday or Christmas. If you wait too long, your favorite photographer might be full and you’ll have to choose someone else.

  3. Outfit planning: The last thing you want is to spend hours on Pinterest the day before your photographer is scheduled. All of my sessions come with personalized style as a part of your session fee. I'll provide everything from outfit inspiration to direct links if you want to purchase things to wear for the shoot. Booking early allows you to find your perfect outfits with the least amount of stress!

  4. Budgeting: Another big point to take into account is your budget. Hiring a photographer is an investment. When you book far in advance, this allows you enough time to save. Put a little bit of money aside every week, and before you know it your session is paid for, or talk to me about setting up a payment plan. It is well worth the investment!

Aside from all of these reasons above, your photographer will also thank you for booking early! As creatives, some of us are not always the most organized people (thank you Honeybook). When you book months in advance, it eliminates us having to email you like a crazy person to get all the details sorted.

Before you go, surprise! This blog is a two-for-one! I wanted to share my time with the Henderson Family. I’ve had the honor of photographing them for two sessions (so far), and I couldn’t wait to show you.

I photographed their maternity shoot, followed by a newborn session, and both were so much fun! Having clients that book multiple times is so amazing because I get to see their little ones grow.

During the maternity session, the soon-to-be big brother was so sweet with his mama. Every once in a while he would kiss her belly, I couldn’t handle it! Both sessions were at the Henderson home in Portland, I absolutely love mama’s style and their house!

During the newborn session, big brother was being pretty fussy. He wanted nothing to do with this lady and her camera, or the shirt mom chose! An important thing to remember when you spend time planning a session with your little ones, sometimes they are just not having it! You just gotta change shirts and roll with it, which is what we did.
