A Recap of 2020

Well, we did it! Somehow, we actually survived 2020. I’m not sure it’s even possible to find the right words to summarize the past year that was 2020, all I can really manage is: what a year. A year that seemed to drag on and on for ages, but now feels as though it inexplicably flew by. Even though it was a constant struggle to navigate through, there was still so much good to come out of it. We found out we were adding our little girl to our family! I also had my busiest fall season to date and ended up meeting some amazing new clients. Cultivating these new and meaningful relationships with people around the community has definitely got to be the biggest perk of my job.

I know I say this a LOT, but I am so lucky to have such an incredible job that I love this much, and I am truly overwhelmed with how much support I got in my business despite everything 2020 brought. During the peak of the insanity, when things like family photos could have been easily thrown on the back burner for many, I am honored that so many families chose me to capture them in the middle of the chaos. In retrospect I think it was so important that people decided to go ahead with photography sessions, just because the world stopped doesn’t mean your family’s memories of the year should!

While everyone had their theories, it was hard to tell where the year would go when the world first shut down in March. I ended up missing so many bookings and wasn’t able to shoot anything for First 48 or Newborn sessions, but all my clients were amazing and pushed through together as those newborn sessions turned instead into 3 months and 6-month-old sessions. September brought sold-out Fall Minis and in October my calendar was booked up for pretty much every evening!

I have looked through every single folder of photos taken in 2020 and picked out a favorite from each session. It’s incredible to look back at all the shoots I did despite it being one heck of a crazy year, not to mention being super pregnant at the end! I can’t thank all my clients enough for the support in booking sessions or for simply following along with my journey and sharing it with your friends and family. There’s no doubt that 2021 will still bring some challenges, but I am looking forward to embracing all the good it brings (starting with our baby girl who was born on January 3rd - I’ll be sharing her birth story soon!) Wishing everyone and their family a happy and healthy year ahead, let’s make it a good one!
