Why You Need a 6 Month Session

I often find that new parents are, understandably, very focused on Maternity and Newborn photos. It’s easy to forget about getting photos done at the 6 month milestone, but they are equally as important (and cute!) in my opinion.  Some people may feel like this is soon after your previous session, but trust me on this! At the end of the day, there is no such thing as too many photos of that beautiful baby you made. During newborn photos, most of the time we’ll capture baby sleeping. At 6 months, they’re not far out of the newborn stage, but they are a lot more interactive and they have big smiles now! This is also the time when you can dress them up in something other than a swaddle or a sleeper!

First of all, a 6-month old baby is adorable! This is the fun age where they are finally starting to show their own personality. There is usually a ton of giggling, smiling, and best of all, those chubby baby rolls! Your little one is going to be responding to your voice at this point, which can bring out all sorts of expressions.

Another big perk of a 6-month session is that you still have control. Your babe might be rolling around a bit, but they’re definitely not standing up and walking away! They’ve discovered new ways to entertain themselves, which does not yet involve causing a path of destruction through your house.

Sitting up on their own is also such a fun milestone to document. While not all babies can fully sit up without assistance, the struggle creates some great shots. You’ll end up with adorable photos of your babe on their back and tummy before they make it to sitting.

One day when you are looking back at these photos, you will not believe how quickly your baby changed! The first year has so many exciting changes, you’ll want to remember every little detail.
