Family Session in South Portland

One of the best things about my job is getting to watch families bloom. The Sountis Family and I  have been working together since their oldest babe Nico was just 6 months. A lot has changed since then, and I feel so lucky to have documented every step of the way.

The Sountis’ have been such fun clients to shoot! We worked on a creative project together when they moved into their old home, which was so much fun! I did short sessions every month for a year, it was so nice to watch them turn their new space into a home! Jordan, the beautiful momma, journaled each session in hopes of creating a memory book her boys could one day look back on (I love when clients do stuff like this!).

This session was shot at their beautiful new home, and let me tell you it was such a joy. Everything about this shoot screamed playful. I swear there was never a moment without an infectious giggle. Bonus, they have the sweetest pup Wrigley who always wants in on the fun! I can’t tell you enough how much I love shooting with pets, they truly bring out the best in all of us and make it so easy for me to capture those special moments.

Nico was so full of energy for this shoot, so I thought what better than to take it outside? It’s never a far drive to the ocean when you live in South Portland, so we took full advantage! The tranquil sound of waves crashing against the shore and the sweet smell of saltwater just set the mood. Getting to shoot by the ocean is one of my favorite things, I’m a believer that it’s impossible to take a bad photo on the beach!

I feel so lucky every time I get to work with this family. They, as well as many of my other long-term clients, have captured a place in my heart. Watching their babes grow and develop their own little personalities is something close to magic. This year has been nothing less than crazy, but stepping foot into the Sountis life for the day reminds me to cherish the little things. I hope you guys loved this shoot as much as I did, and I can’t wait to share my next adventure with you all!
